Over the last two years the Scottish Anglican Network has been thankful for the practical and spiritual support we have received from a number of the Primates of the Anglican Communion. For that reason, we will be praying for those meeting in Canterbury next week.
We are aware that the decision by the Scottish Episcopal Church to introduce the innovation of marriage of couples of the same sex will be discussed at this meeting, especially following the news that its representative on the Anglican Consultative Council married his same-sex partner on 16 September.
We are reminded of the words Jesus spoke to the church in Laodicea, “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.” (Revelation 3:19 NIVUK)
May the Primates show their love for the Scottish Episcopal Church as Jesus showed his love to the Laodiceans. Only repentance can lead to a seat at the table to eat with the Lord Jesus.
